A Society of Patriotic ladies

"A society of Patriotic ladies" was painted on March 25, 1775 in London by a British person.
The women in this painting are going against the British.
At this time, fifty-one women had signed a declaration in support of non importation. They were swearing to not drink tea or purchase British imports.

The woman in this painting is drinking punch mixed with alcohol out of a bowl.
As one can see, all the women here are not paying attention to the dog peeing while biting the baby's ear.

According to the artist, to be an American is to be Patriotic. The message being sent is the painting above is very negative. The denotation that the artist is showing is that Americans, specifically Patriotic women are ugly bad people. That was American identity in olden times. Although now, with the photo on your left, this defines American identity now. Us as Americans have a right to a free education. The economic issues are that many countries, like Guatemala and Mexico in Central America, do not give free education. This is important because the youth are given more opportunities than those in other countries who need to pay to learn things that we in America would consider basic knowledge, like math, science, and language.

The artist purposely added every little detail the way he/she did and painted these Patriotic women as scary-looking to portray them as irresponsible bad and ugly people.

The artist painted more women than men because the message that is being sent is towards Patriotic women.
